Morning (9:00 AM - 10:00 AM)
As children arrive, they can make activity choices in the classroom. They are encouraged to explore and collaborate with one another and the educators. When weather permits time is spent in our outdoor play space. Children are also invited to complete work started previously.
Snack Time (10:00 AM - 10:20 AM)
Snacks are served in our classrooms and children eat together at tables with the teachers. Morning Snack is served between 9:30 and 10:00 a.m. Teachers often take this time to read stories or share information with the children.
Meeting Time/Circle Time (10:20 AM - 10:50 AM)
The entire class gathers together to sit in a circle, The children and educators sing together, share news, discuss classroom happenings, and count the number of people present. During these time the teacher introduces new concepts and themes of learning for the week.
Enrichment (11:00 AM - 11:30 AM)
Our art, music, yoga and STEM instructors bring their expertise in their given areas to our students. These weekly enrichment activities happen throughout the day and help create the rich, meaningful and exciting early childhood experience that our families have come to expect from Gan Gani.
Outdoor Exploration (11:30 AM - 12:15 PM)
The children explore the outdoors and engage with water, sand, paint and bubbles. The children use our climbing structures, bikes and balls to strengthen gross motor skills. Outdoor play is child-led play at is best; where children create games unfettered by the direct instruction of educators. Our teachers role on the playground is to ensure safe play, not to lead the children in close ended activities. At Gan Gani we encourage our children to play comfortably with nature and to feel free to explore, innovate and play.
Lunch Time (12:15 PM - 12:45 PM)
Each teacher sits at a lunch table in the classroom with a small group of six or seven children. Children bring their lunches from home, and the option of pizza lunch is offered once a week.
Quiet Time (1:00 PM - 2:15 PM)
Younger children take a nap while soft music is played and children lay quietly on their cots, typically with a special soft toy and / or blanket from home. Teachers circulate to pat backs and help children to relax.
Extra-Curricular Activities (1:00 AM - 3:30 AM)
Our visiting instructors add an element of excitement and learning for our aftercare students. Every day of the week our students are able to participate in a range of activities such as gymnastics, soccer, baking, science and story hour. These activities are included in the aftercare fee.
Departure (3:30 PM - 5:00 PM)
Children are picked up at different times during the afternoon, depending on the child’s contracted schedule. 1:00, 3:30 and 5:00 are the most common times for pickups. Parents are encouraged to arrive at least 10 minutes before their child’s scheduled pick up time so that they can have time to speak with educators, as well as help the children to have a smooth transition from Gan Gani Preschool to home.
The Center closes promptly at 5:00 P.M.
